buenos dias! i hope everyone is enjoying the hot weather this august (i know mom and i are sweating bullets here in Madrid). it has been wonderful seeing the city where mom studied abroad _____ many years ago (in the 70s to give an estimate). she was here for four weeks and we've been here for three days! it is a nice change from france. dont get me wrong, france is great, but overall, the people of spain are much nicer and more relaxed. so i would choose spain over france for that alone. but we've been eating well too; just last night we shared the signature dish of spain: paellas with sangria to drink. paellas is basically rice mixed with saffron, shrimp, chicken, clams, and some vegetables. it is delicious! and im not too sure what's in the sangria, but its basically red wine mixed with juice and fruit. very good!
anyways, we have been the Palais Real, the Plaza Mayor, and the Museaum Prado which had many famous spanish artists (Goya, El Greco, Velasquez). tomorrow morning we head to the train station for Barcelona where many tourists have warned us to watch our bags! but i am looking forward to it, as our hotels have airconditioning which i have not been accustomed to this past month and a half. well, gotta run; i hope everyone is doing well and enjoying summertime! id like to wish good luck to Lauren who i believe is leaving for China soon or has already left, i cant remember. and to ms. todd and ms. thilges who still cant think of anything else to talk about except me (wow, how bored are you?) just kidding, love yall and be safe this august!
